FAQs

Do i need a voiceover coach?

Working with me will fast track your skill level, understanding of the business and ensure you make an excellent first impression when you approach producers and agents. The VO industry can be a little overwhelming to navigate alone so most people appreciate and value the guidance and honesty I will give you - it is invaluable and prevents you from making rookie mistakes. As my sessions are 121 the training is accelerated and intensive resulting in maximum impact.

How many sessions will I need?

I only ask you to commit to 1 session, from there I will know how much work you’ll need to get to a professional level. It’s always amazing how much we achieve in 1 session. Some clients are with me for 2/3 sessions, some work with me over a period of a few weeks or months. It depends on how much you want this, your timeline what your finances will allow. I will always be completely transparent and never hang on to you longer than I need to. When you’re ready i’ll be pushing you out of that nest and you will fly!

How will the session work?

The day before your booked session i’ll email you your tailored scripts and Zoom link. After a quick intro we’ll go through the scripts together, i’ll give you direction and point out how you can turn your reading of the script from amateur to professional - it really is very interesting and most clients have a real light bulb moment. It’s also fun, informal and the time flies by. Feel free to record the session at your end, even on your phone to listen back to later, you’ll be impressed with your progression.

How can i prepare for the sesson?

Please read through the scripts I send you at least a couple of time so you’re familiar with them, but not learning them. Drink lots of water the day and evening before to hydrate and avoid dairy the morning of the session if possible. Warm up your voice by doing some simple mouth widening exercises and always have a glass of water by your side during the session. You’ll just need a quiet room and your laptop for the session as well as a notepad and pen. Headphones are useful if you have them but not essential.

What type of scripts will we do in the session?

Your first session will be a generic mix of commercials, corporate style scripts and an audiobook script. The flowing sessions we’ll dig deeper with animation scripts, narration and continuity scripts as well as developing your ability to develop the characters in the script. I’ll teach you how to use tone, pace, inflection and breath control to an expert level to really bring your script to life.

Will your teach me about all the other aspects of being a Voiceover artist?

Absolutely - i’m on hand to help with every aspect. I can explain how you could put together a simple and low budget home studio, how to approach potential clients, how much money you can expect to earn and how to market yourself, i’ll always be on hand to guide you during your career. The most important thing is your performance though so that comes first, everything else will fall into place after that.

Do I really need a showreel?

YES - it’s essential to have a superb sounding showreel - producers, agents and clients generally won’t entertain you without one. It shows your commitment, skill and range. It’s how they know you’re the real deal. When you’re advanced enough to record a reel we’ll work on your scripts for it together, practicing and choosing the best ones that suit your voice and style. You’ll then come into the studio in Manchester for a 1 hour recording session (or we can record remotely if you’re not local). It will then be professionally produced with music and sound effects and sent to you as an MP3. I’ll then give you advice on what you do with your new reel!

I feel like i have more questions, can we chat?

Yes - please drop me an email and we can set up a time to have a quick call, I can then hear your voice and answer any questions. Please also check out my reviews on google - i’m proud to have 5 star reviews from my clients and it should offer peace of mind for you too.
